As a member of the CGI, Protimos has undertaken two commitments:
The Judicial Advisory Group (JAG) will build the capacity of the judiciary across Sub-Saharan Africa to handle issues of emerging complexity. Developing a regional advisory resource supports the work already undertaken by Protimos in the area; supporting the local judiciary in the provision of access to the law for indigenous and marginalised communities vulnerable to exploitation.
The Green Light Programme (GLP) supports the development and implementation of an international legal protocol, through which the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) of a community will be negotiated in an equitable and mutually beneficial manner, before any use of the communities’ natural resources may occur.
