Protimos 500
P500 is an opportunity to be involved in innovative work, challenging poverty directly in the developing world, using your legal expertise to make a real difference to indigenous and marginalised communities.
Intellectual contributions
P500 lawyers working in a personal capacity will have the opportunity to:
- employ their specific legal skills and knowledge in researching issues critical to a project;
- visit and work on our projects, e.g. conducting workshops as a consultant lawyer working with the project lawyer in Southern Africa;
- observe and report on the hearings which might result in new jurisprudence;
- provide other legal support, e.g. designing effective workshop programmes which ensure the marginalised communities we work with understand and follow the legal processes relevant to their jurisdiction;
- provide Protimos with general support vital to our growth as an organisation, e.g. editing an e-newsletter, including litigation reports provided internationally by P500 lawyers, or ensuring our work is widely disseminated.
Financial contributions
The annual P500 membership minimum subscription of £100 will directly benefit the work of Protimos, enabling P500 lawyers to take an active part in our work. A discounted subscription fee will be made available to trainee solicitors and pupil barristers.
Join us
Barristers and solicitors with an interest in the projects of Protimos and aligned with the ethos underlying our work are invited to register their interest in P500.
On receiving your registration, we will contact you to establish your particular area of interest, whether defined by a particular project or by an area of law.
We look forward to hearing from you, whether you are able to commit a set number of hours per month, would prefer to invest time in an ad hoc manner depending on your interest and availability, or simply wish to support our work financially through the P500 subscription.
Individual lawyers' contribution to P500 is undertaken in their private capacity rather than as a member of their firm.
