Lawyers challenging poverty

On 6th May 2010 we partnered with The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple to present a lecture by Dr David Starkey CBE entitled ‘English History and English Law’.

Our inaugural lecture was held in the Hall of the Inner Temple, one of the ancient four Inns of Court, by kind permission of, and chaired by, the Treasurer of the Inner Temple, The Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Laws.

The evening was introduced by Protimos’ Director, Fiona Darroch. Dr Starkey then explored the inherent individuality of English Law relative to rival European systems in a forty-minute lecture filled with his trademark wit and fierce intellect. A short question and answer session followed.

Guests enjoyed a reception after the lecture, with many relishing the chance to engage further with Dr Starkey.

As well as being an interesting and lively evening, we were also pleased to introduce our media partner for the event: Intelligence Squared, Britain’s premier debating forum, who kindly agreed to film the lecture.
